    The masking design is to help concentrate surface charge to the rim. Charge naturally wants to move to the outer edge and sharpest curvature. Form follows function. Although it looks pretty cool as well. 😎
    The paint being used is Stainless Steel based and is supposed to yield a bit over 30% metal. I hope 3 layers will yield about 5 mils thickness. pg
