There are problems with coordinating truckers’ actions. They are all off to themselves except for the few team drivers. They are a mix of corporate and indie drivers where the corporate drivers would be truck jacking if they took off with their employers’ trucks and subject to criminal prosecution.
But the truckers do have one advantage over government goons. It makes things slower, but they can communicate face-to-face at rest stops and fuel stops and no Three Letter Agency can overhear what they discuss among themselves. It takes a while, but word gets around. Then options must be discussed. Then plans and dates agreed upon. And so on for the task of organizing the truckers.
But they have always known that they have the power. It’s just been a matter of them all agreeing to exercise that power, and then the slower process of them developing a plan and coordinating the truckers.
It looks like they have finally finished “talking amongst themselves” and have a plan and the necessary truckers informed and on board.
In Canada, the people coming out to the highways and overpasses to cheer the truckers on were just as important as the truckers. It let the truckers know that their timing was right and the people were behind them.
When the U.S. truckers decide to act, I will drive whatever hours it takes to get a spot on their route and I will cheer them on. If you can’t drive a truck, then the show of support is one important thing that people can do.
The CBC tried to hide the size of the convoy and the support of the people along the route, but it just can’t be done. People see their friends and neighbors out there with them and realize, “Oh, it’s not just me that is fed up.” The shared smartphone photos and videos absolutely defeat the YSM narrative.
